Congratulations to Days of Wine and Roses and Here Lies Love on their Tony Awards nominations. Days of Wine and Roses is up for Best Original Score for Adam Guettel, Best Leading Actress in a Musical for Kelli O'Hara, and Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Brian d'Arcy James, as well as Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and a Drama League awards. Here Lies Love is up for Tonys for Best Original Score for David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, Best Sound Design of a Musical for M.L. Dogg and Cody Spencer, Best Scenic Design of a Musical for David Korins, and Best Choreography for Annie-B Parson, as well as Outer Critics Circle and Drama League awards. And kudos to Timo Andres, who is up for both Tony and Drama Desk awards for Best Orchestrations for Illinoise.

Arielle Jacobs, who stars as Imelda Marcos in the first-ever Broadway production of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim’s musical Here Lies Love, was joined by her cast mates on Good Morning America to perform two songs from the show: the title track and “Eleven Days.” Jacobs was also joined by Conrad Ricamora, who stars as Ninoy Aquino, on GMA3 to perform “Opposite Attraction.” You can watch the performances here.

This double-disc song cycle about the rise and fall of the Philippines’ notorious Imelda Marcos and the People Power Revolution was conceived by David Byrne; composed by Byrne and Fatboy Slim; and performed by a dream cast drawn from the worlds of indie rock, alt country, R&B, and pop, including Florence Welch, Cyndi Lauper, Steve Earle, Sharon Jones, Natalie Merchant, Tori Amos, Kate Pierson, St. Vincent, My Brightest Diamond, Nellie McKay, Martha Wainwright, Róisín Murphy, Santigold, and Byrne himself. “Ingenious,” said the New York Times. “Insidiously infective songs.”

Here Lies Love, the immersive disco pop musical based on the rise and fall of Imelda Marcos and the People Power Revolution of the Philippines, with music by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, will premiere on Broadway this summer at the Broadway Theatre, directed by Alex Timbers and choreographed by Annie-B Parson. Performances will begin Saturday, June 17, ahead of an official opening night on Thursday, July 20.

David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love begins its two-month run at the Seattle Repertory Theatre tonight, with the official Opening Night set for April 20. Seattle Rep's Bagley Wright Theatre transforms into a vibrant dance party, where techno beats spin and tell the story of former Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos, retracing her meteoric rise to power and subsequent descent into infamy and disgrace at the end of the People Power Revolution. Nonesuch released the original cast album in 2014 and an all-star album of songs from Here Lies Love in 2010.

Congratulations to David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love, which has been nominated for three Olivier Awards: Best New Musical, Outstanding Achievement in Music, and Best Theatre Choreographer for Annie-B Parson. The awards ceremony will be held at the Royal Opera House in London on April 12. The National Theatre production of Here Lies Love was met with great critical acclaim and won the 2014 London Evening Standard Theatre Awards' Beyond Theatre award for "pushing the boundaries of musicals."

David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love has its official Opening Night at the National Theatre's Dorfman Theatre in London tonight. The reviews are in from last night's press night, bringing five stars in Time Out and the Daily Mail, which calls it "revolutionary," and four stars in the Independent, Daily Telegraph, Evening Standard, and the Times. David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love, currently playing at NYC's Public Theater, opens in previews in London on Tuesday, September 30. The National Theatre is producing the musical, which will be the first production in its Dorfman Theatre. The official Opening Night is October 14. "I’ll be there, on the floor, for most of the rehearsals and previews," says David Byrne. "Probably singing along (to myself—though sometimes I get carried away). I suspect Norm [Cook (Fatboy Slim)] will be there sometimes, as well."

David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's stage musical Here Lies Love will open in Sydney, Australia, in May 2015 as the theatrical centerpiece of the Vivid Festival. "Here Lies Love is unlike any musical previously staged in Australia," says Australian producer Rodney Rigby; "it is a transformative experience with unique and immersive staging by director Alex Timbers, where actors perform on platforms and moving catwalks, creating a club-like environment whilst forging a special relationship between the actors and the audience." Here Lies Love performances continue in NYC and open in London on September 30.
